If there are no problems during pregnancy, exercise is not prohibited and is not associated with an increased risk of miscarriage.
However, because of increased laxity of the ligaments and the shift in the body's centre of gravity, particular care must be taken to avoid possible injuries to the lower limbs. After the 20th week of pregnancy, it is also advisable to avoid exercises in the supine position, due to reduced blood supply to the fetus.
Exercise during pregnancy helps greatly to maintain the good physical condition of the pregnant woman and has an anxiolytic effect. Swimming is considered the best exercise, due to the reduced likelihood of injury, provided that the water is controlled for microbial contamination. Walking is also very beneficial.
